Description

Delicious apple turnovers filled with protein-rich cottage cheese, perfect for breakfast, snacks, or desserts.


Ingredients

  • Puff pastry
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 2 medium apples, peeled and chopped
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg beaten with 1 tbsp water (for egg wash)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare your work surface: Lightly flour a countertop or cutting board.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry to about a 1/8-inch thickness.
  3. Make the filling by combining cottage cheese, apples, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt.
  4. Cut the pastry into 4-5 inch squares.
  5. Fill each square with a tablespoon of filling.
  6. Seal the turnovers by folding over and crimping the edges with a fork.
  7. Brush the tops with egg wash for a golden finish.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes.
  9. Cool on a wire rack before serving.
