Ingredients

- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast
- 1 cup milk (whole preferred)
- ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 egg
- ¾ cup packed brown sugar (for filling)
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup softened butter (for filling)
- 4 oz cream cheese (for frosting)
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for frosting)
- 2 tablespoons milk (for frosting)
- Vanilla extract (for frosting)
Instructions
- Warm the milk to about 110°F (44°C) in a saucepan.
- Activate the yeast with warm milk and sugar; let sit until frothy.
- Mix in the flour, salt, egg, and melted butter.
- Knead the dough until smooth, about 6-8 minutes.
- Let it rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
- Mix the filling ingredients into a paste.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle.
- Spread the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the dough.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log and slice into 12 pieces.
- Arrange slices in a greased pan and let rise again for 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Frost the cooled rolls with the cream cheese frosting.
Notes
Serve warm with coffee or tea. Can be made ahead and refrigerated overnight.
