Description
There’s comfort food… and then there’s this. On a snowy day in 2018, I threw pantry basics into my slow cooker and prayed for warmth. What came out? Tender beef tips in savory gravy, clinging to buttery noodles like childhood memories. My picky twins licked their bowls, my husband went back for thirds, and I found a new family favorite. This dish is more than a meal—it’s nostalgia, warmth, and love in a bowl. Ready to create your own cozy moment?
Ingredients
-
1 lb stew meat (or 2 lbs for leftovers)
-
1 packet onion soup mix
-
1 packet brown gravy mix
-
1 can cream of mushroom soup
-
1 can beef broth
-
1 can mushrooms (or sautéed fresh)
-
Egg noodles (or wide pasta of choice)
Instructions
-
Load Crockpot: Add beef, soup mix, gravy mix, mushroom soup, mushrooms, and broth. Stir to combine.
-
Cook Low & Slow: Cover and cook on LOW for 7–8 hrs (or HIGH for 4–5 hrs). No peeking!
-
Test & Skim: When beef is fork-tender, skim any fat from the top.
-
Boil Noodles: Cook egg noodles just shy of done. Drain—don’t rinse!
-
Serve: Plate noodles, top with beef and gravy, garnish with parsley or chives if you’re feeling fancy.
Notes
-
Want richness? Add ½ cup sour cream before serving.
-
Gluten-free? Use GF soup/gravy mixes and serve over rice.
-
Freeze leftovers without noodles—makes the gravy even silkier next time!
